mal's mumblings: July 2008
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 25, 2008. Adding to this mess, the family was white and the perpetrators were black. Last week the Star Tribune published a piece claiming the root of the incident could be found in the social values common to Rap music. The author opined that the sexually denigrating and violent ego centrism that permeates Rap music has found its way to mainstream America and is being reflected in violent behavior like the beating. Is society reflecting the music? Is the music reflecting society?

mal's mumblings: February 2007
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 13, 2007. When I started Blogging 2 years ago I was at a slow point in my life. Blogging was great! It allowed me to work on my free writing skills and to express myself on topics I would never have before. Additionally, in reading others blogs, I came to change my views on many things. All in all, it has been a wonderful experience for me. Vaya con Dios mi Amigos. Thursday, February 01, 2007. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Police and F.B.I. are not looking for me.yet.

mal's mumblings: Public Policy in the Market Place and Cycling
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2009/01/public-policy-in-market-place-and.html
Monday, January 19, 2009. Public Policy in the Market Place and Cycling. Part of my misspent youth was consumed being nurtured in the same bosom as Laffer's Supply Side Economics. Knowing that, it should come as no surprise that when congress was first debating the CAFE requirements in the 70's I was convinced they could never work. Detroit of course was taking the attitude that the market "demands" gas guzzlers and that was all they could make. What does this have to do with Cycling? As the summer of '0...

mal's mumblings: In Passing
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2010/07/in-passing.html
Friday, July 02, 2010. Growing up with her I had no idea how unusual she was. She told me once that time and distance always adds perspective to things you wish you could have seen when you were closer. I never thought it would apply to her too. She became very ill shortly after the last entry. I am writing this note to close out her blog because she would not want to leave it dangling like so many others have left theirs. I am so sorry for your loss. Her Mumblings were one of the many ripples she le...

mal's mumblings: August 2007
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 29, 2007. I am still struggling with the same post I have been working on for the past few weeks. In the interim the following story has achieved some local note and I thought it worth telling. This story is about people who stepped up to a problem with no mind to the personal cost. Extreme Makeover" stepping in is a great story. To me the great story is the Swenson's. People who step up to a problem knowing it will be hard make me humble. Thursday, August 23, 2007. This one bothers me.

mal's mumblings: Some Times Green ain't Easy
http://malsmumblings.blogspot.com/2008/12/some-times-green-aint-easy.html
Monday, December 15, 2008. Some Times Green ain't Easy. Last spring when I took an inside job I was looking forward to doing some of my commuting via bicycle or mass transit. I live in the busy North West suburbs and work in one of the South West suburbs. The second busiest freeway route is the one that connects the two parts of the metro. So you think that would make it easy to find bike or bus routes, right? Congrats on finding a bike route! Is it 23 miles roundtrip or one-way? View my complete profile.

Under the Radar.....: March 2006
http://notsocrankyyankee.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Quietly cruising through life without a fuss. Thursday, March 30, 2006. I've been on the road since Sunday and since I have my laptop thought I'd pop out a quick post. Since then I have been to Bombay and back, all with a miserable cold. It sucks flying like this! I realize this is not the best picture, but you can see the buds on the trees (pink) in the foreground. I think Paris will be in full springtime bloom in just a couple of weeks! And some pineapple juice. Cranky (standing behind kids): "RAYMOND,...

Under the Radar.....: January 2006
http://notsocrankyyankee.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Quietly cruising through life without a fuss. Sunday, January 29, 2006. I took this picture yesterday during our approach to runway 31L at JFK. Don't worry, it was the captain's leg - he won the coin toss in Paris - so he was flying. What a great day to fly into New York! The weather was beautiful and there wasn't a lot of traffic. We didn't get many vectors and were cleared the visual approach to this runway, which is close to our gates. Anyway. Most things are not that different. On international fligh...
