The other big news is that the retina specialist said that carrying another pregnancy was unlikely to cause any more problems with my eyes. I am more of a lurker, but am using Karen’s daily suggestions as a way to hopefully get myself into some sort of routine that will hopefully inspire me to post more often. So…a day in the life. This is a hard one, since I tend to keep the minute by minute of diabetes in the back of my head. How do I do this, seeing as diabetes is a 24/7 constant in our lives? Mommy, is today to- day at school? Mommy is it tomorrow?

Life as a graph…. June 25, 2008. Filed under: BG numbers. 8212; Emilie @ 2:00 am. Disappointment in bg numbers. Don’t get me wrong, this sensor is really great. When I am creeping up, it alarms to tell me I have eaten too much, or given too little insulin. When I am low, it alarms to tell me I am heading into dangerous territory. A big week…. July 22, 2008. 8212; Emilie @ 1:41 am. This week is going to be a big one. Physically and emotionally…. Working full time, AND taking care of myself, I think I may be stretching myself too thin. So this appointment is a big deal. My average for one week was 110. Anyway, here were the responses I got:. Optometrist: I guess that's okay. Oral surgeon: Wow, really? How do you do it? Internal medicine doctor: [No response because there was nothing about it for us to discuss]. Dental hygienist: Well, that's not *that* bad. You should really be careful, though.

It seems more than a few people are under the impression that doing a control solution test calibrates your blood glucose meter, and that this needs to be done often to keep it working. I keep seeing control solution tests referred to as "calibration" and people being told to "calibrate" more often. I don't understand where this idea that control solution tests calibrate the meter comes from and how it got so widespread. Does anyone know? My Slice of Life.

Friday, February 11, 2011. A warning from the past. So here I am renewing this goal and trying to force my eyes back to the prize. Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Here is the oatmeal that KC and I made last Saturday. It is rolled oatmeal with dried cranberries, freeze dried blue berries and some frozen black berries. Here is a picture of KC's plate.
